Entrepreneur

Career Overview

An entrepreneur is a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.

Education

No official training is required to become an entrepreneur; however, a two or four-year degree in business or another appropriate field (depending on the business type) would definitely be valuable!

Future Outlook

Overall employment of top executives is projected to grow 4 percent from 2019 to 2029, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Projected employment growth varies by occupation.

Work Environment

The work environment will depend on the type of business that is opened. Typically, an entrepreneur will likely work many hours per week (many more than 40), especially during the first few years after the business has been opened.
