Paralegals and Legal Assistants

Paralegals and Legal Assistants

Webinar

Career Overview

Paralegals and legal assistants support lawyers by researching legal information, preparing documents, organizing case files, and helping with hearings, trials, and other legal matters. They increasingly use digital case-management systems, legal databases, e-discovery tools, and AI-assisted research technology.

Education

A college diploma, associate degree, or certificate in paralegal or legal studies is a common pathway. Requirements vary by country and region, and some employers prefer a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.

Work Environment

Most work in law firms, corporate legal departments, government agencies, and other professional offices. The work is generally office-based, but deadlines, court dates, and large cases can create busy periods.

Future Outlook

Legal professionals are increasingly using AI, digital research, e-discovery, and document-management technology to work more efficiently. Employment prospects vary by location
