Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETs) keep the technology used in healthcare safe, accurate, and ready to work. Most Biomedical Equipment Technicians complete a college diploma, associate degree, or certificate in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, electronics, or a related field. Hands-on laboratory training and work placements are common. Professional certifications may also be available after graduation, although requirements vary by country and employer.

Much of the work is indoors in clean, technology-focused environments, but technicians may move throughout healthcare facilities or travel to customer sites.
