Scholarship Description

Losing someone close to you is never easy, but while they are no longer here in person, they will always live on in your memory. This scholarship is in remembrance of Sammy Ochoa, who passed away from cancer in September of 2020. Sammy was an incredibly talented guitar player and also a man of faith who trusted God until his last breath. Above all else, he was a devoted family man who gave his full heart and time to his wife, kids, and grandkids.

Minimum Requirement

The Sammy Ochoa Memorial Scholarship will award $500 each year to one high school senior who will be going to college and who is interested in a career in the medical field, music, or pursuing a trade degree.

You must be from the Vernon, Texas area to be eligible for this scholarship.
